Showtime Championship Boxing — On the Announcers Stage for Charlo vs Montiel

On June 19, 2021, Blue Ribbon Digital Media provided a Stanton Triangle Jimmy Jib Pro for Showtime Boxing’s live broadcast of Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel at Houston’s Toyota Center. Charlo was defending his WBC middleweight title, and the event reached a peak audience of 379,000 viewers. Production built a four-foot-tall stage for the announcers’ desk and our 12’ Stanton Jimmy Jib Pro, which we positioned on center. Toyota Center’s large, well-organized loading docks made load-in efficient, while the stage’s two staircases allowed us to move the equipment up without creating bottlenecks.

The setup typically starts with a full build day, giving us time to assemble the jib and test everything before the broadcast. On show day, our jib tech works alongside the operator to block shots, spot positions, and guide the arm’s movement around talent and crew. During the broadcast, the jib delivered smooth moves around the announcers and wide shots of the arena for commercial bumpers, adding movement without distracting from the action. It was a clean, controlled setup from load-in through the final shot.
