NASA Mission Control - CBS Evening News

As part of the production team for CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell, I had the extraordinary honor of building a camera crane to a 12-foot reach inside NASA’s historic Houston Mission Control. This iconic room, renowned for its role in the Apollo missions, was meticulously staged to recreate the 1960s ambiance, complete with authentic details like RC Cola bottles, ashtrays, and period-appropriate tweed and corduroy sport coats. Setting up the crane in such a legendary space required precision and care to ensure our equipment seamlessly integrated with the carefully curated set. The unique challenge of working in this historic environment demanded a balance of technical expertise and respect for the space’s legacy. Capturing footage in this setting was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and being part of this production was a profound privilege. The experience of contributing to a broadcast from the very room that guided humanity to the moon will remain a career highlight.
