Freedom Over Texas — ABC Network

As the camera crane operator for the KTRK ABC13 Freedom Over Texas Firework Extravaganza, we play a pivotal role in capturing the magic of this iconic July 4th event in Houston, Texas. For the past 17 years, our team has provided camera crane services for the event, returning each year to help capture the celebration and its fireworks finale. This all-day celebration features continuous performances on the main stage, culminating in a show-stopping act by a renowned musical artist. Operating in the intense July heat and humidity of Houston, this job is one of the hottest, both literally and figuratively, that our team tackles each year. Our responsibility involves managing the crane (with remote head), built out to a 30-foot reach and positioned on a 4-foot-high stage measuring 16 feet wide by 20 feet long, surrounded by metal crowd fencing. The event concludes with Texas’ largest fireworks show, a breathtaking spectacle that we help broadcast to viewers through ABC13’s televised coverage. This project is always a highlight of the year, and our team looks forward to delivering a stellar production for this beloved annual Texas tradition.
